Time for Indian media to investigate what went wrong with New Delhi

[TamilNet, Thursday, 13 August 2015, 23:30 GMT]
Four decades ago, overpowering the US outlook, New Delhi successfully materialised the liberation and independence of Bangladesh from the colony-like rule of Pakistan. But within a couple of years the USA managed to hijack Bangladesh into military rule and to become non-friendly to India. New Delhi did quite the opposite to Eezham Tamils. It was the crucial strategic partner to the US-led coalition that enacted the first ever gang-genocide in the region to uphold a congenitally genocidal State. New Delhi emerged as the main protector of Rajapaksa after the war. Yet, if Indian journalists like P K Balachandran, long operating in Colombo, could now link Rajapaksa with emerging shades of Eezham Tamil nationalism, and they find only anti-Indian sentiments in them, then there must be something constantly wrong with New Delhi, which the Indian media should investigate.

Australia funds biometric passports of genocidal Sri Lanka

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 12 August 2015, 22:33 GMT]
At a time, when the demand of Tamils is to internationally investigate the genocide and on-going genocide in the island, the response coming from Australia is funding genocidal Sri Lanka’s passport intimidation project, which will be targeting especially the Tamil diaspora. With the provision of 500 million rupees coming from Australia, Colombo this week begins the programme of taking fingerprints for the issue of biometric passports. Under the programme, everyone needing a new passport has to personally go to offices located only in the island for taking biometric data. New passports obtained through diplomatic missions outside may become invalid on landing in Colombo.

Gajendrakumar clarifies differences in TNPF-TNA polity

[TamilNet, Monday, 10 August 2015, 23:37 GMT]
In an interview to TamilNet on Sunday, Tamil National Peoples Front (TNPF) leader Mr Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam clarified the differences between the TNPF polity and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) polity on the question of solutions to the national question of Eezham Tamils, amidst claims by TNA politician Mr M.A. Sumanthiran that both the TNA and the TNPF talk of the same thing. Whether Tamils like to confirm the line of guided polity taken by imperialisms of own interests over the island, or whether Tamils like to edify (if not confront) the imperialisms by passing a strong message, is the difference between voting for the TNA and voting for the TNPF, commented Tamil political observers in Jaffna.

US, Jewish outfits in Colombo behind deceptive ‘hybrid court’, TRC advocacy

[TamilNet, Sunday, 09 August 2015, 11:56 GMT]
Human Rights activists in North and East told TamilNet this week that it was USA, more than any other countries, that has been promoting the South Africa inspired Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and the so-called “hybrid mechanism” for transforming the international process into a domestic process lately in the island. The Colombo-based USAID and American Jewish World Service (AJWS) have been working behind the scene to campaign among Eelam Tamils to support these mechanisms, the sources told TamilNet. In the meantime, Northern Provincial Councillor M.K. Shivajilngam, in a letter sent to UN Human Rights Chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein on Saturday urged the UN Rights Chief to “take measures for proper international judicial process under the auspices of the UN.”

Lawyers in Mannaar seek external assistance on mass grave investigations

[TamilNet, Saturday, 08 August 2015, 23:39 GMT]
Colombo-based Sri Lankan Criminal Investigation Department officer H. Ranasinghe was confronted last Wednesday by leading lawyers from Mannaar, when the case on continued exhumation of the alleged killing fields of Mannaar was taken at Mannaar Magistrate Court. Colombo's CID officers were trying to annul further investigations by sabotaging DNA based forensic investigations to judge the exact time when the victims were slain and by projecting a false claim that the skeletons belonged to a graveyard. However, Judge Aseervatham Gracian Alex Raja, after hearing the arguments from both the Colombo's Police and the lawyers representing the missing persons in Mannaar and the lawyers association in Mannaar, ordered for further excavation of another site, which is believed to be a well, where the SL military is believed to have dumped slain Tamils, 14 years ago.

Genocide in arsenal of imperial conquests worse than nuclear weapons

[TamilNet, Friday, 07 August 2015, 23:45 GMT]
The easiest and quickest way found by imperialisms in their conquests of today is deployment of the weapon of genocide by taking the side of genocidal ‘majorities’ in the so-called States created by the designs of predecessor imperialisms. The paradigm-setting case in recent times is the plight of the nation of Eezham Tamils and how the Washington-led ‘coalition’, New Delhi and Beijing behaved and are behaving. The paradigm is now applied to the case of Kurds entangled in the West's mobilisation of Turkey and Iran against the Arabs, and in the comparative treatment of the national questions in the colonially created ‘Sri Lanka’ and Myanmar. While a nuclear deal with Iran steals the show, a worse security threat to humanity, i.e., genocide in the arsenal of imperialisms, goes conveniently unnoticed or un-investigated, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics.

Turkey resumes war against Kurds with US approval

[TamilNet, Friday, 31 July 2015, 12:57 GMT]
The Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has authorized the state armed forces to carry out air strikes against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and People’s Protection Units (YPG/YPJ) positions in Southern Turkey (Northern Kurdistan), North Iraq (Southern Kurdistan) and Northern Syria (West Kurdistan). On 23 July and 26 July, Turkish war planes pounded PKK bases in North Iraq and South-Eastern Turkey. Whereas Turkey claims to have launched attacks on the IS (Islamic State) in Syria, reports indicate that it is the PKK and YPG/YPJ who are the prime targets of the Turkish aggression. On 21st July a NATO Security Council meeting was called for by Turkey, and the Washington centred defence alliance granted its approval to its allies in Ankara, promising political support for Turkish military efforts. Consequently, on 29th July, the Turkish government annulled the ceasefire with the PKK.

TNA's draft on constitutional reforms exposes dilution of fundamental principles

[TamilNet, Thursday, 30 July 2015, 00:21 GMT]
TNA proposals of constitutional reforms“In point of fact, if the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka is to be preserved from claims to the right of secession, it is a sine quo non that the right to self-determination of the Tamils is recognized and the nature of the state is restructured to enable meaningful exercise of internal self-determination,” concludes the draft introduction prepared by TNA in November 2009 to accompany its proposals of constitutional reforms. 5 years have elapsed since. The TNA, now claiming a final solution in 2016, is yet to educate the masses on what efforts it has undertaken to establish the sine quo non (“cause-in-fact”) and on how long it is going to cling to the explanation of re-inventing the wheel, getting voluntarily locked to a genocidal situation which is beyond any rectification. TamilNet is releasing the documents from November 2009 for the awareness of Eezham Tamils.

Secret UN move sabotaging international investigations condemned

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 29 July 2015, 15:50 GMT]
The Chief Minister of Northern Province Justice C.V. Wigneswaran and Tamil Civil Society Forum (TCSF) have condemned the recent UN moves hatched in secrecy to establish a domestic mechanism, which seems to have been solely negotiated between the Government of Sri Lanka and the office of the General Secretary of the UN as revealed by the Channel 4 News on Tuesday, based on a leaked UN document. The Channel 4 said the NPC CM was condemning the move as betraying the victims by undermining the calls for an international court. “The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, if he is to maintain the dignity of his office, cannot be silent anymore,” the TCSF said in statement issued on Wednesday demanding immediate response from the UN Human Rights Chief Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein.

Colombo-centric ‘State within State’ is model envisaged for the island

[TamilNet, Saturday, 25 July 2015, 23:52 GMT]
Similar to Bangkok being different from Thailand, a separate State in disguise at Colombo, which will be different from the rest of the island, and which for all practical purposes will wield the real power and control over all economic, military and political matters of the rest of the island, is the ‘devolution’ model envisaged by the ultimate culprits, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island, citing the ‘election’ manifesto coming from Colombo. All the Colombo-centric Sinhalese, Eezham Tamils, Muslims, Up-country Tamils and the diaspora invested in Colombo, will be lured into the model for their vested interests. Whenever the model finds ‘difficulties,’ the lascarine Sinhala military will be used, as it often happens in Thailand, the activists further said.
