Wigneswaran on Monday joined hands with NPC Opposition Leader Sinnadurai Thavarajah of the EPDP and the people of Vaddak-ka'ndal in Mannaar, commemorating 32nd anniversary of the genocidal massacre of 88 Eezham Tamils, who were shot and butchered to death in execution-style and by 300 Sinhala soldiers who had surrounded the village from all directions in the early hours of 30th January in 1985. [TamilNet, Monday, 30 January 2017, 23:02 GMT]
The Colombo regime of Maithiripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickramasinghe has officially donated 50 houses on Monday through ‘National’ Housing Development Authority (NHDA) to the Sinhala colony, that has been created by the occupying Sinhala military and Sinhala-Buddhist extremist ‘Sinhala Ravaya’ at the strategic entrance to Jaffna at Naavat-kuzhi. The controversial move comes amidst strong opposition from provincial councillors of Northern Provincial and the position taken by the latest District Coordinating Committee (DCC) meeting, which was co-chaired by SL Deputy Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran and SL government agent to Jaffna N. Vethanayahan. The UNP has exerted pressure on ITAK, proposing a deal of 200 houses to Tamils in the same area in order to proceed with the NHDA recognition of the military-enforced colony of demographic genocide.

Resettled fisher families at Palaali North face hunger due to UNDP negligence

[TamilNet, Sunday, 29 January 2017, 18:33 GMT]
The UN Development Agency was promising to provide sea-access facilities to more than 50 fisher families who were resettled after 27 years in their own coastal fishing village of Antonypuram in Palaali North in Valikaamam North. A few weeks ago, the fishermen families shifted their work from displaced Inparuddi area in Vadamaraadchi North to their own village in Palaali. After the SL military allowed them to access the sea 60 days ago, the fishermen were only able to make it to sea for 5 days, says 34-year-old Sujeevan Antonypillai, a resettled fisherman. The UNDP, after promising to put up the fisheries infrastructure, has delayed it. Housing was provided through Indian Housing Scheme, which was initiated in May 2016. The UNDP is now citing bad weather conditions to commence the infrastructure work.

[TamilNet, Saturday, 28 January 2017, 10:18 GMT]
The occupying Sinhala Navy stationed at Kachchatheevu islet brutally assaulted three Eezham Tamil fishermen from Neduntheevu, whose fishing boat ran aground on Kachchatheevu islet after losing fuel on 20 January. The exhausted fishermen, who had been searching for their lost fishing net, were detained throughout the night and subjected to brutal assault by the SL Navy. On the following day, the fishermen were sent back into the sea on board their vessel without any fuel. The news of the SL Navy attacking them was exposed to local media after other fishermen saved the wounded fishermen. Now, the SL Navy has started to exert pressure on those who alerted the media and the Tamil politicians, says NPC Councillor Vinthan Kanagaratnam, who has been in touch with the assaulted fishermen and their representative, Mr Aruljeevan, since the incident was reported for the first time.

USA, Norway, UK, EU and Japan answerable for Vavuniyaa missing

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 24 January 2017, 22:32 GMT]
The USA, the EU, the UK, Norway and Japan, demanded Eezham Tamils to move into SL military controlled Vavuniyaa towards the end of war without having any international mechanism on place for their protection. Apart from those who perished, the number of people who were unaccounted for during the genocidal onslaught, a staggering 146,679, is the potential figure of ‘missing persons’. The SL State has put the number of Tamil detainees and prisoners below 200. The genocidal State refuses to recognize them as political prisoners. In the meantime, trauma-stricken kith and kin who survived the Tamil genocide, have been made to carry the photos of their missing ones and expect justice from nowhere. In an attempt to get attention, they have launched a hunger strike at Vavuniyaa this week.

Structural genocide against Tamil fishermen reaches all-time high in Mullaiththeevu

[TamilNet, Monday, 23 January 2017, 23:38 GMT]
The structural genocide being waged by the Colombo Establishment, particularly against the Eezham Tamil fishermen in Mullaiththeevu district, has reached an all-time high in the history of the district, says Mariyathas Anthonipillai, the chairman of the Federation of Fisheries Associations in the district, told TamilNet on Monday. More than 50% of the coastal stretch with access to fish has been taken over by the intruding fishermen from South. “If the SL Fisheries Ministry gives permission to put up 20 different sites along Mullaiththeevu coast for fishermen from South, the intruders go to the extent of putting vaadis at 80 places. The native fishermen are not even allowed to have their huts at one single place between Nallatha'n'nith-thoduvaay in the north of the district to Kokkuth-thoduvaay and Mukaththuvaaram in the south of the district,” Mr Mariyathas said.

[TamilNet, Thursday, 19 January 2017, 10:03 GMT]
As Trincomalee Harbour, the fifth largest natural harbour in the world, was targeted by genocidal Colombo through decades of militarization, foreign meddling and so-called development in the Eastern Province paving way for the entire Trincomalee district to be subjected to large-scale Sinhala colonisation in the past, genocidal Sri Lanka has targeted two harbours in the Jaffna district of Northern Province for future Sinhalicisation of Jaffna through militarization, ‘development’ and Sinhalicisation. Colombo’s Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development is embarked on a multi-million project through so-called ‘development‘ of the two already militarized Kankeasan-thu’rai (KKS) and Point Pedro harbours through Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) and Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation (CFHC).
