Occupying Colombo set to grab 227 acres of private lands in Vali North in Jaffna

At least 163 acres of private lands of Eezham Tamils in a triangle area along the coast in Kaangkeasan-thu'rai (KKS) between the Cement Factory, the old hospital and Keerimalai are to be officially seized by the SL State for the use of the occupying Sinhala Navy in KKS Centre (J/234) GS Division. In the meantime, another area of 64 acres is being appropriated in the vicinity of the historically famous Keerimalai Nakuleasvaram temple in Keerimalai GS Division (J/226). The ‘Tourist Development Authority’ of genocidal Sri Lanka (SLTDA) is set to receive this land. Two acres of these lands are also going to be transferred to the SL Navy, Tamil officials at Jaffna District Secretariat said.

Intelligence establishments poised to escalate religious fundamentalism in Mannaar

A group of Saiva Tamil activists, attempting to renovate a decoration-arch placed four years ago on the road to Thirukkeatheeswaram temple in Mannaar, were opposed by a section of Tamil Catholic people on Sunday. The Catholics alleged that the presence of the galvanised arch was a disturbance to Our Lady of Lourdes Church at the locality. The Lourdes church, which was a minor place of worship, had also been expanded into a big temple four years ago in Maanthai parish. The parish priest of nearby Vangkaalai was opposing the ‘renovation’ of the arch blaming that the Saivites were scheming a permanent concrete structure. The Saivites, in their turn, were arguing that they were only consolidating the damaged parts of the existing galvanised arch on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri which was to be observed on Monday. The dispute was blown out of proportion by the parties with vested interest.

Ranil's ‘development’ of North-East is divide-and-rule imposed on Tamils

Grassroots activists in Moothoor East in the Trincomalee district have blamed the SL Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe for imposing a so-called development agenda of his design, which deploys divide-and-rule tactics in the occupied North-East. The short-term aim of the programme is designed to gain electoral and political mileage to the UNP party by diminishing the role of the Tamil politicians including that of the collaborating TNA. The hidden, much more sophisticated and the long-term agenda of the hostile ‘development’ and ‘rehabilitation’ programme is Sinhala-Buddhicisation of the North-East, they said.

Colombo accelerates Sinhalicisaton of disputed heritage hilltop in Vavuniyaa

A team of technicians from the SL Archaeology Department were deployed to copy stone inscriptions found at the disputed heritage site of Vedukku-naa'ri hill-top in Vavuniyaa on Thursday and Friday. The members of the group were claiming that they had come following special requests from the District Secretary of Vavuniyaa, a Sinhalese, and the secretariat of the SL President Maithiripala Sirisena, said Thamilchelvan Thurairajah, an elected councillor at the Civic Divisional Council of Vavuniyaa North, who confronted and interacted with the team on Thursday. Two armed Special Task Force commandos and two police officers were providing ‘security’ to the technicians to carry out the recordings on Thursday and Friday. They were also making some other measurements at the hilltop, the witnesses said.

The trustees of Thiruk-koa'neasvaram (Koneswaram) temple in the eastern port city of Trincomalee blame three different authorities of the unitary of state of genocidal Sri Lanka as severely restricting their initiatives to preserve the spiritual environment at the historic Saiva temple. The Tamil devotees experience the conduct of the SL state apparatus as racial discrimination, reporters in the city said. The secretary of the trustee board, Mr K. Parameswaran, when contacted by TamilNet said the SL Archaeology Department, SL Department of Coast Conservation and the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, which is a statutory body of the Colombo government, were confronting the trustee board.

The appointments manifest in a classic setting of the genocidal Mahavansa-and-Mahaweli mindset of the Polonnaruwa-Anuradhapura establishment of Maithiripala Sirisena, commented Tamil political observers in Jaffna. The intentions behind the appointment of a Tamil academic, who is loyal to Sirisena and ‘acceptable’ to the Maha Sangha of the Sinhala Theravada Buddhist establishment, should be easy to grasp, they said.

Speeding SL military truck claims lives of three Tamils on A9 highway

Three Tamil passengers riding a three-wheeler including its driver were killed on the spot when a speeding truck of the occupying Sinhala military crashed into the vehicle on Tuesday afternoon. The fatal incident has taken place on the A9 highway at Iyak-kachchi, north of Elephant Pass in Ki'linochchi district. Eyewitnesses said that a group of military soldiers rushed to the spot in a pickup vehicle immediately after the accident and transported the Sinhala military driver that seemed drunk away from the locality. By the time when the SL Police came, another SLA soldier had taken his place. The SL military started to claim that the wrong driving of the auto-driver had caused the accident.

Tamil POW, detained for 10 years, launches hunger-strike at Anuradhapura prison

Sivaseelan Sivapragasam was 22 years when the SL military detained him on 19 May 2009 at Oamanthai in Vavuniyaa. He had lost his mother and a brother during the genocidal onslaught by the advancing SL military which directed indiscriminate artillery fire into the so-called ‘safe zone’. His father, Mr Sivapragasam, the only remaining family member outside the SL Prison who was tirelessly demanding the release of his son, also passed away on 16 December at Vaddak-kachchi in Ki'linochchi. The lone survivor of Sivapragasam family is now waging hunger-strike urging his release to at least conduct the 31st-day ritual ('Anthiraddi' rites) to his deceased father, his fellow inmates told media on Sunday.

The TNA politicians, who demand de-militarisation were flying in helicopters while the SL military was helping the flood-affected Tamils on the ground, the extremist monk told the people. Apart from the drive to promote military psyops, his visit was aimed at strengthening Sinhala settlers (not affected by the floods) who have encroached Karai-thu'raip-pattu division in Mullaiththeevu district seizing the strategic link between the North and East to wedge the contiguity of the traditional Tamil homeland permanently.

SL Military psyops takes precedence over flood-assistance in North

For the first time after 2009, the Eezham Tamils in the North managed to mobilise on their own without to provide immediate assistance to more than one hundred thousand people, who were severely affected in the floods across Mullaith-theevu, Ki'linochchi, Vadamaraadchi East in Jaffna and in the remote villages beyond the A9 road in Mannaar and Vavuniyaa. Despite some assistance through the hardworking Tamil civil servants, the attitude of the unitary state of genocidal Sri Lanka was, as usual, discriminatory and propaganda-oriented. Also, the SL military which was duty-bound due to assist the victims of the flood, has gone to the extent of putting up ‘thanking note’ banners at several places, especially in Mullaiththeevu district, as if the people were thanking it for humanitarian assistance provided in the recent floods during which several thousand were affected.

Republican Senator Cory Gardner from Colorado, who proposed the bill in April has urged the US House of Representatives to quickly send the legislation to the desk of President Donald Trump for him to sign it into law.

Sinhala police threaten organisers of Heroes Day events in Vadamaraadchi, Jaffna

Unknown attackers, believed to be policemen from Point Pedro station, on Tuesday night smashed the doors and windows of the residence of Mr Pon Sakthivel, a fisheries society activist and poet, who was involved in mobilising the Heroes Day Remembrance event at Chuppar-madam. The attackers had come with the intention of causing bodily harm to Mr Sakthivel and his brother, fisheries society sources told TamilNet on Wednesday. However, the family members who sensed suspicious activity in the vicinity of their house decided to spend the night with a relative elsewhere. Unable to find anyone in the house, the attackers have smashed the door and window, the sources said.

However, the SL State wanted more and more, believing that the geopolitical paradigm experimented through the genocide on Eezham Tamils would bring it fortunes. The naval ambitions went to the extent of wanting 25 powerful naval vessels from different actors to create a powerful naval fleet. At the same time, SL State's maritime economic ambitions were aimed at making Colombo the financial hub in the Indian Ocean.

Quad formation discusses “rules-based order” in Indo-Pacific

The governments of the USA, India, Japan and Australia on Thursday issued statements through their respective foreign ministries echoing “rules-based order in the Indo-Pacific” in their statements. The statements come after the senior officials of the Quad countries met in Singapore on Thursday for consultations on addressing the Chinese challenge in the Indo-Pacific region. Another phrase featured in all the four statements, including that of India, was “ASEAN centrality”. The statements from three countries, except India, mentioned ‘Sri Lanka’ and the Maldives.

Sirisena dissolves SL parliament as Rajapaksa fails on numbers game

Maithiripala Sirisena, the executive president of the unitary state of genocidal Sri Lanka, dissolved the SL Parliament on Friday. Mr Sirisena was citing a mixture of constitutional clauses to justify his decision. The move comes as the newly appointed SL Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa reportedly failed to secure the majority needed to justify his appointment. There were widespread allegations that the Rajapaksa brothers were investing ‘Chinese money’ to buy over the parliamentarians. However, such buy-overs have not taken place to the alleged extent. Tamil political observers, not aligned to any of the geopolitical camps, believe that both the USA and China, who are the leading global actors as well as India which has emerged as the main ally of the Trump administration in the Indian Ocean Region, seem to be at a wait-and-see mode at the moment.

Military coercion takes upper-hand in Indo-Pacific, soft power era is over

General Ben Hodges while addressing Warsaw Security Forum on 24 October in Poland. Hodges was making a point to his European partners that the USA would not be able to deter both Russia and China at the same time at the event of a global confrontation in the future. In his drive to convince the US allies in Europe to take a larger share in their preparedness to deter Russia, the former US Commander was implying that the priorities have changed and the military assets of the USA were going to be concentrated in the Indo-Pacific in the long run. Sirisena stages constitutional coup, installs Rajapaksa as SL Prime Minister

The executive president of genocidal Sri Lanka, Maithiripala Sirisena, has suddenly installed former SL President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the SL Prime Minister after withdrawing his UPFA from the so-called ‘good governance’ alliance on Friday night. The soft parliamentary coup, which seems to be a carefully planned secret move, has been justified by Mr Sirisena as adhering to the constitutional provisions of the unitary state. Mr Sirisena, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, had this already in mind when he addressed the UN General Assembly last month in the USA, political observers in Jaffna commented. Maithiripala was praising his troops on the ground during his UN visit to Donald Trump's USA. The UNP is now reaping what it sowed 40 years ago in 1978 when the late J.R. Jayawardene introduced the executive presidency.

Justice Wigneswaran decides to launch new political party

Naming his new initiative as Thamizh Makka'l Koodda'ni (TMK), former Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council Justice C.V. Wigneswaran on Wednesday summarised the raison d'etre for the new party in a well-attended meeting at Nalloor in Jaffna. The political goal of the TMK would be aimed at achieving a political solution on the basis of Tamils' right of self-determination and shared sovereignty, he said. The party would be prepared to accept a federal solution with undivided North-East as its basic unit, he said. The former Supreme Court Justice came with an initial list of 10-points and urged the people to shape the strategy of the party through public debate.
