LTTE calls for negotiations on interim administration

World Bank teams begin field survey tour in NE

Colombo urged to drop ‘double standard on interim mechanism’

“The cease fire agreement (CFA) between Colombo and the Liberation Tigers has no basis in the laws of Sri Lanka. It is an extra constitutional instrument on which the island’s peace has stood for more than 15 months. Therefore, why can’t the Sri Lankan government look beyond the constricting parameters of its constitution to formulate an interim mechanism for rebuilding and rehabilitating the war ravaged northeast? We are urging the Sinhala polity to drop its double standard on this matter for the sake of peace," Mr. Joseph Pararajasingham, a senior Tamil National Alliance MP, said Tuesday.

Permanent appointments for Tamil volunteer teachers

UXOs hamper reforesting, forest inspection in Vanni

The Tamil Eelam Forestry Division (TEFD) sources said that unexploded ordnances (UXOs) pose danger to the inspection of the destruction caused to forests in the Vanni during Operation JayaSikuru in 1997, when Sri Lankan military officers felled large trees, destroyed forests and profited by exporting them to the South.

VVT residents picket against new army camp

Former TELO member shot dead

Committee to investigate into attack on Batticaloa journalist

Trinco Vipulananda holds first prize giving in 56 years

LTTE releases two Sri Lankan police constables

SLMM searches Vadamarachchi LTTE political office

The Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) in Jaffna Friday morning searched the Vadamarachchi political office of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) on a complaint by the security forces that they had seen members of the LTTE carrying powerful transmitter equipments in Manalkadu area in the peninsula. However no such items were found in the office after a thorough search, SLMM sources said.

Sri Lanka's main opposition lays condition for IA

The main opposition Peoples Alliance (PA) Friday said that Tokyo donors' conference should be held as scheduled next month with the participation or non-participation of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). It further said that the interim administration should be established to facilitate the implementation of the political solution reached at the peace talks now being held between the GOSL and LTTE and with certain conditions, sources in Colombo said.
