Seven innocent youths killed in Vadamaradchi, Jaffna

Sri Lanka Army soldiers opened fire and attacked with Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers two three-wheelers with 7 youths inside, killing all of them on the spot. The attack took place inside a lane near SLA Intelligence Camp in Navindil, 300 meters from Nelliyadi junction in Vadamaradchi, Jaffna, around 2:15 p.m. Thursday. The victims, who were on their way to attend a birthday party, were attacked by the SLA men in retaliation to a grenade attack that took place behind their Intelligence camp where 3 SLA personnel, including an officer, were wounded.

Fifty passengers escape Claymore blast in Vanni

A bus carrying around 50 passengers from Puliyankulam northwards in LTTE controlled area in Periyakulam in Vavuniya North narrowly escaped a Claymore blast around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Tamileelam Police sources in Kilinochchi said. Deep Penetration Unit of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) is blamed for targeting civilian passengers in LTTE controlled areas recently.

Woman farmer killed, 2 wounded in SLA Penetration Group's gunfire in Madu

A group of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers who penetrated into Liberation Tigers controlled Madu division, shot and killed a 50-year old woman farmer. A 60-year old man and another 50-year old woman were wounded. The shooting incident took place at Chinnavalayankattu in Mannar district Tuesday around 4:00 p.m., Tamileelam Police sources in Madu said.

Two traders shot in Jaffna, one dead

Armed men riding in a motorbike entered a hairdressing saloon near Thirunelvely junction and shot a client, a trader from nearby public market seriously wounding the trader and saloon owner. The trader succumbed to his wounds at Jaffna hospital. Eyewitnesses at the site, a high security area manned by Sri Lanka Army soldiers 24 hours a day, alleged that the SLA had withdrawn it's soldiers from the nearby posts, 10 minutes prior to the shooting incident, which took place 50 meters close to the junction, on Adiyapatham Road. Thirunelveli remains tense.

SLA troopers on paramilitary rescue mission killed

The Liberation Tigers commando unit that returned to LTTE Forward Defence Line (FDL) Sunday after completing the attack on three paramilitary camps in Welikande area, has claimed that 5 Sri Lanka Army troopers, including a Captain rank officer, who took part in a paramilitary rescue operation, were killed in confrontation with the Tigers. Informed defence circles in Colombo said that the SLA deaths were not revealed to avoid reports of SLA complicity in paramilitary issue.

Two SLN soldiers injured in Allaipitti claymore attack

Two Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) have been seriously injured in a claymore attack near the Allaipitti area in Kayts within SLN's High Security Zone (HSZ) at 6.40 p.m. Sunday, sources in Jaffna said. The injured soldiers were air-lifted to Palaly military hospital and later transferred to General Hospital, security sources said.

SLA soldiers ambushed in Mannar, 4 wounded

Unidentified attackers lobbed a grenaded and shot at a group of Sri Lanka Army soldiers in Nanattan, 20 km south of Mannar town, wounding four soldiers around 5:00 p.m. Friday. The soldiers opened fire for 15 minutes following the attack. More than 50 families have refuged into the nearest church, according to civilian witnesses.

3 SLA troopers killed, 2 civilians missing after Claymore ambush

Three SLA soldiers who were on their way to Vallakkulam near Vankalai in Mannar district, were killed and three soldiers seriously wounded in a Claymore ambush around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, police sources in Mannar said. Two civilians bathing in Vallakkulam, including a 40 year-old woman, were missing, civilian sources said. The main road between Nanattan and Vankalai remains cut and soldiers have surrounded the area which remains tense.

SLA soldiers open fire at civilian bus, 1 dead, 4 missing

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers opened fire on a mini bus killing it's civilian driver at Kanakampuliyady junction Monday around 7:15 p.m. The fate of at least four passengers is not known. Residents, who heard gunfire and screaming from the vehicle, expressed fear that all inside the bus were killed and the traces removed from the attack site. SLA sources on Monday claimed that four persons had run away from the bus.

SLA soldier killed in Claymore attack in Thenmaradchi
