UN Resident Coordinator lies to NPC Councillor: Inner City Press

Northern Provincial Councillor Ananthy Sasitharan was the first one to react in the island after the journalist of Inner City Press (ICP), Matthew Russell Lee, who is renowned for reporting on the inner workings of the UN system was expelled on two-hour notice from the UN Headquarters on 19 February. The UN Under-Secretary-General for Communication and Public Information had revoked Mr Lee's resident correspondent pass and his access to the press office. On Tuesday this week, Ms Ananthy, who came back to Jaffna after addressing the Human Rights Council session in Geneva, received a written reply from Una McCauley, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNICEF Resident Representative in Colombo that Mr Lee is now provided non-Resident Correspondent access. ICP Journalist Matthew Russell Lee, after seeing the letter received by Ananthy, commented it as an “untruthful and Kafka-esque response”.

Colombo proceeds unabatedly with military, STF deployment in Batticaloa

The ‘Defence Ministry’ of genocidal Sri Lanka has instructed the District Secretariat of Batticaloa through the SL Ministry of Public Administration and Management in Colombo to permanently transfer the ownership of the lands belonging to the Divisional Secretariat office of Eruvilpattu South at Ka'luvaagnchik-kudi. The STF units, formed during the times of late SL President J.R. Jayawardene and trained by the British, were further strengthened by his successor, the late SL President Ranasinghe Premadasa. The STF camped at the premises of DS office in 1990 is still stationed there despite the end of war in Batticaloa in 2007. A torture chamber is located inside this notorious camp where several Eezham Tamils abducted by the white-van squads in the past, have been subjected to ‘enforced disappearances’. Ka'luvaagnchik-kudi is located about 30 km south of Batticaloa on Kalmunai road.

UN Human Rights Chief ridicules stateless nation of Eezham Tamils

The ethnic conflict in the island of Ceylon intensified following the genocidal invention of ‘Sri Lanka’ in 1972. Eezham Tamils were waging powerful non-violent campaign opposing the imposed identity of ‘Sri Lanka’ by 1972 when the Jordanian Prince Zeid bin Ra’ad was an 8-year-old boy. The nation of Eezham Tamils was forced to launch the struggle for independent Tamil Eelam when all avenues of peaceful resolution to their national question were exhausted. They have never sought to sing ‘Sri Lankan’ anthem in Tamil, Sinhala or English. But, for 52-year-old UN Human Rights Chief, who should be aware that the root crime in the island is the crime of genocide, which his office didn't want to recognise, SL State forcing or manipulating Tamils to sing ‘Sri Lankan national anthem’ in Tamil was a ‘powerful symbolic gesture of reconciliation’.

Colombo resumes surveillance of Eezham Tamils through ‘registration’ in Batticaloa

Occupying Colombo's Sinhala police, the intelligence operatives of the SL State and military surveillance officers are conducting fresh ‘registrations’ of people living across the 14 divisions of Batticaloa district, citing section 76 of the SL ‘Police Ordinance’ which states that householders should furnish the officer of police of his or her division with a list of all the inmates in the house and that any change occurring in the households should be reported to the police or legal authorities of the SL State. The surveillance measure is now being systematically implemented in the entire district of Batticaloa. In addition, Sinhala military intelligence officers are visiting selected households every month and some others every third month. Those who have been in Vanni earlier are being harassed with ‘terrorist’ questions, Tamil civil sources in Batticaloa told TamilNet on Friday.

The late Rev Fr Guy de Fontgalland was preparing to launch a big project of planting 10,000 palmyra seedlings in the islets off Jaffna in 2017, said his close associate Rev Fr A.F. Jeyasegaram, the director of Neitha'lam, which is a diocesan center for fishing workers in Jaffna. Fr Jeyasagaram has known Sathiyapillai Guy de Fontgalland since his childhood till his demise on Monday.

They celebrate this day with Kiribath [milk rice] in the South. We have not forgotten that they also celebrated the annihilation of thousands and lakhs of Tamils at Mu'l'livaaykkaal in 2009, serving Kiribath in the South,” a protesting mother in Mannaar, who joined the district wide protests of Tamils marking the so-called Independence Day of Ceylon, which has later become genocidal ‘Sri Lanka’, as a Black Day. In the meantime V.S. Sivakaran, a young Tamil activist in Mannaar said Tamils have no emotional attachment to the day and that they saw it merely as an Independence Day of a neighbouring country. SL police shields military culprits of rape in East

While evidence at the crime scene pointed to the occupying Sinhala navy personnel of the ‘SLNS Vidura’ naval base as culprits of the alleged abuse and brutal murder of 6-year-old Tamil boy Tharshan Kugathasan, who was dumped into an abandoned well near the Vidura camp at Champoor on Monday, the Sinhala police of genocidal Colombo was attempting to shield the criminals, the resettled Tamil villagers told TamilNet on Wednesday. The detection dogs brought by the SL police were sniffing towards the Navy camp. In the meantime, a Tamil girl, who was sexually abused by three Sinhala soldiers at Chanthi-ve’li in Batticaloa five years ago at the age of eight, is still fearing for the lives of herself and family members. One of the abusers was still deployed in the area. Her father seeking justice was subjected to ‘grease devil’ attack and had to leave the island on employment.

6-year-old Tamil boy brutally raped and killed near genocidal SL Navy camp in Champoor

A 6-year-old Tamil boy, reported missing at Champoor on Monday evening at 5:30 p.m., was recovered dead after being brutally raped and dumped into an abandoned well located near the ‘Vidura’ camp of the occupying navy of genocidal Sri Lanka. The resettled Tamil families who went searching for the boy found traces of sexual abuse inside an abandoned house located near the naval camp. Military shoelaces have been used to bind the boy to a stone, the eyewitnesses who were watching the SL police to recover the corpse from the well, told TamilNet. SL President Maithiripala Sirisena is directly responsible for the brutality as he failed to move the Navy camp away from the resettling people as promised, Tamil rights activists in Trincomalee said adding that the West, led by the USA and a host of other countries, is particularly responsible for the continuation of genocidal paradigm after 2009.

Tamils and World War III

The world imperceptibly enters into World War III. This is a war different in many ways from the previous two. It is not fought among powers, but fought against peoples all over the world. Tamils are one of the targeted peoples. If agencies are hurriedly deployed from all quarters, to concentrate solely on one point, i.e., to detract and contain the national question of Eezham Tamils, that is to consolidate the Colombo-centric genocidal system in order to use it and its military in an impending larger war or in entry into the region. The message should go clearly from global mobilisation of Tamils, irrespective of Tamil Nadu or Eezham origins that they look at the question of Eezham Tamils as a test case in considering world orders coming from the West or East.
