SL military deployed to rob material remains of houses in Valikaamam North ‘HSZ’

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 13 July 2016, 23:31 GMT]
0The occupying Sri Lanka Army has been systematically deployed in recent days to dismantle and rob roof tiles, wooden window and door frames off of the remaining houses that are situated inside the areas, which the uprooted people have been demanding the SL authorities to release for their resettlement in Valilkaamam North in Jaffna district. Journalists in Jaffna have managed this week to photograph stolen material temporarily stored within the military fenced-off area in Kurumpasiddi along Eezhakeasari Ponniah Road. In the meantime, Tamil journalists have also photographed some of the private properties situated within the military-seized deployed for military use to be in good condition. The President of Valikaamam North Rehabilitation Society Mr A Gunabalasingam, said he has received several complaints from the people who have seen the organised robbery by the SL military.

Colombo demonstrates military diktats over resettlement in Jaffna after Geneva ‘update’

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 12 July 2016, 13:10 GMT]
The commander of the occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka in Jaffna has re-iterated the military diktat on Monday by going on record that there was no reduction in the camps or number of military troops in Jaffna. Claiming that there would be no such consideration of reducing the troops in 10 years in the future, Major General Mahesh Senanayake was also demonstrating that any resettlement of uprooted Eezham Tamils in the former ‘High Security Zone’ in Valikaamam North could only take place at the mercy of the Sinhala military. A few uprooted Tamil women and the Additional Government Agent of Jaffna were asked to be present in the ‘inauguration’ ceremony of the military-conceived, SL government-funded housing scheme for 100 families at a limestone quarry land near Maavidda-puram. The quarry lands belong to KKS Cement factory.

Sinhala goons, monk erect Buddha statue by force at coastal Tamil village in East

[TamilNet, Monday, 11 July 2016, 23:03 GMT]
0Tension prevailed at Chaampal-theevu junction, situated 7 km north of Trincomalee city, as Sinhala goons assaulted Eezham Tamil travellers on the coastal road after putting up a Buddha statue where a Hindu Pillayar statue was situated for decades. SL Police was giving protection to the goons who were led by a Buddhist monk. The violent episode took place Monday morning after the villagers had removed a Buddha statue planted by someone a few days ago at the locality after removing Pillayar statue, news sources in Trincomalee said. The villagers had also removed a Bodhi tree that had been planted by the occupying Sinhala navy at the locality. On Monday, SL police was deploying Sinhala goons to ‘demonstrate’ to Eezham Tamils how it was implementing the ‘foremost place to Buddhism’ paragraph of the unitary constitution of genocidal Sri Lanka, commented Tamil activists in Trincomalee.

Eezham Tamils fleeing persecution expose ICE-nexus with genocidal Sri Lanka

[TamilNet, Sunday, 10 July 2016, 23:14 GMT]
On 15th of June, Indonesian authorities apprehended 44 Eezham Tamils en route to Australia in a fishing trawler in the eastern province of Aceh. Indonesian officials prohibited the refugees from disembarking upon Indonesian soil stating that they were not eligible for asylum. During one incident, as five Tamil women attempted to disembark, Indonesian authorities were reported to have fired gunshots in the air. Pictures emerged, with one of the Eelam Tamil women in tears mimicking with her hand a gun pointed to her head. The silence from the International Community of Establishment (ICE) was ‘demonstrated’ when Colombo’s officials through a UN body visited Indonesia in order to negotiate the return of the refugees back to Colombo’s military rule, from which they were fleeing.

SL Police, DS, Forest Department continue to block Champoor Tamils from regaining agricultural lands

[TamilNet, Saturday, 09 July 2016, 23:26 GMT]
The occupying Colombo has instructed the Divisional Secretary of Moothoor and the Officer in Charge of Police at Champoor to collaborate with the SL Department of Forest Conservation in blocking the uprooted Champoor Tamils from entering Kokkaddi, a coastal village with fertile upper lands suitable for agriculture and farming in Moothoor East, informed civil officials in Trincomalee said. The area of Kokkaddi, also known as Vaddavan, has been an agricultural area where Eezham Tamils were engaged for decades in fishing, agriculture and animal farming. The structural genocide against Eezham Tamils will not stop until Eezham Tamils regain their sovereign rights over their land and sea, Tamil civil officials in Trincomalee commented.

Amaithipuram exposes disparity in ‘development’ motives of Colombo, external powers

[TamilNet, Friday, 08 July 2016, 15:37 GMT]
The entire village of Amaithi-puram (peace-town), created in 2012 as a settlement for war-affected, women-headed and uprooted families from Periya-pa’ndi-virichchaan in Mannaar district during the regime of Rajapaksa, is still languishing without proper livelihood support. 250 Eezham Tamils belonging to 47 families are struggling without access to potable water and they lack much-needed road infrastructure. In contrast, Sinhala colonization settlements being created in the occupied country of Eezham Tamils by the genocidal unitary State in South are fully utilized with sustainable and modern solutions in all areas, be it housing, livelihood, education arrangements and state-of-the art road infrastructure. But, in Amaithi-puram, like in several other villages of ‘resettled’ Tamils, even the houses built under the Indian housing assistance have become rotten to the core within 5 years.

Colombo wants Sinhala Buddhist temple at former military base in Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Thursday, 07 July 2016, 23:51 GMT]
The occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka and the colonial governor of Eastern Province, who is a former defence secretary and currently an ‘advisor’ to the SL President on so-called ‘reconciliation’ have brought two Sinhala Buddhist monks from Trincomalee to Kaayangkea’ni, a Tamil village situated 115 km north of Batticaloa city. The monks have put up their huts besides an abandoned Buddha statue, which was erected inside a former military base. In 2013, the SL military relocated the base. But, in 2016, the intruding monks demand to transform the locality into a Sinhala Buddhist temple. Kaayang-kea’ni is located in Koa’ra’laip-pattu North (Vaakarai) Division in Batticaloa district.

Colombo’s ministries continue to deploy genocidal policies in employment

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 06 July 2016, 14:31 GMT]
Among 130 appointments to non-medical support staff positions recently made to the Teaching Hospital in Batticaloa, which is a predominantly Tamil-speaking district, 127 were Sinhalese, 2 Muslims and only 1 person was Tamil, medical sources at the hospital told TamilNet blaming Colombo’s Ministry of Health and Indigenous Medicine and its minister Rajitha Senaratne for deploying high level of discrimination in employment in the health sector. Former SL President Mahinda Rajpakasa named the 2009 genocidal onslaught as ‘Humanitarian Operation’. After the end of war, Colombo brought genocidal military rule to carry out the structural genocide. As far as the Eezham Tamils are concerned, the current regime has brought ‘Genocidal Governance’ through the so-called label of ‘Good Governance’, commented a Tamil doctor at Batticaloa Teaching hospital.

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 05 July 2016, 15:54 GMT]
0The Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development of genocidal Colombo and the occupying Sinhala military in Karai-thu’raip-pattu division of Mullaiththeevu district have completely transformed the ancient coastal Tamil village of Naayaa’ru, situated in Chemmalai-East GS division, civil sources in Mullaiththeevu said. The Sinhala colonisation of Naayaa’ru has taken place after seizing the strategic Mukaththuvaaram from Tamils. More than one-thousand Sinhalese belonging to 299 Sinhala families have now fully occupied the coastal stretch. The area is maintained as a military zone. Tamils and their GS officials are completely barred from entering this zone, Tamil fishermen in Karai-thu’raip-pattu say.

Gaining more ‘time and space’ at Geneva, Colombo steps up genocidal grip on Eezham Tamils in Vanni

[TamilNet, Monday, 04 July 2016, 22:40 GMT]
The so-called Civil Security Department (CSD), which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Defence of genocidal Sri Lanka, is trying to seize 500 acres of additional farmlands at several locations of Mullaiththeevu district through ‘legal’ means, civil sources in Vanni said. While the genocidal-paradigm is upheld by the powers through a passive discourse at Geneva, the CSD under Maithiripala Sirisena is absorbing more farmlands through Sinhala military corporatism. The enslaved Eezham Tamils are to be deployed as slaves and more Tamil children are going to be subjected to brainwashing by the SL military. In the meantime, the income generated from the military-run farms is being channelled to employ a Sinhala-only armed paramilitary, known as Civil Defence Force (CDF) to colonize strategic Tamil lands along the coast and the interior borders of the occupied country of Eezham Tamils.

SL Navy proceeds with controversial Buddha statue in Nayinaa-theevu

[TamilNet, Sunday, 03 July 2016, 20:13 GMT]
Disobeying the interim order from the SL Government Agent of Jaffna district not to commence the construction of a controversial 61-feet Buddha statue at Nayinaa-theevu, the occupying Navy of genocidal Sri Lanka and the chief monk of ‘Nagadeepa Rajamaha Vihara’ at Nayinaa-theevu, have started the construction work on Sunday morning, the Tamil villagers at the islet complained. The monk, Ven Navadagala Paduma Kiththi Tissa Thero, treated by the SL Navy as a leader who stands above the executive SL President on Sinhala-Buddhist affairs of the entire island of Lanka, has fixed the timing for the commencement of construction work. SL Navy personnel were deployed in large numbers to suppress any protest from Tamil villagers at the islet located south west of Ooraath-thu'rai (Kayts) harbour.

UN’s credibility on delivery of justice seriously eroded: rights activist in Batticaloa

[TamilNet, Saturday, 02 July 2016, 23:12 GMT]
Even after coming up with resolutions and reports, the response coming from Human Rights chief with regards to practical delivery on international justice is based upon the thinking of giving more time and space to the Sri Lankan regime, which is acting against the spirit of accountability, Justice and rule of law, says Kathir Barathythasan, a leading human rights activist from Batticaloa. In an interview to TamilNet this week, the activist, who has served as the secretary of Citizens’ committees in Batticaloa and Ampaa’rai and Gandhi Seva Sangam, said the people on the ground, particularly the victims, will remain firm on seeking justice to thousands of their kith and kin perished in the 2009 onslaught and in demanding the whereabouts of those who have been reported missing.

Genocidal Colombo demonstrates its ‘respect’ to passive discourse by UNHRC with latest abduction

[TamilNet, Friday, 01 July 2016, 23:34 GMT]
While the Foreign Minister of genocidal Sri Lanka was telling the Human Rights Council in Geneva that his State had ratified the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Disappearance on Wednesday, the SL Military Intelligence of the SL State abducted a father of three and subjected him for a day-long unimaginable torture before dumping him away at a farmland in Mannaar with a warning that if he talked about what had happened to him at the torture chamber, he would be shot and killed next time. The victim, 38-year-old Santhiyogu Anton is receiving medical treatment at ward 04 of Mannaar hospital and the SL Police is ensuring what the abductors wanted the victim to do in remaining total silence to the world what had happened to him. Time for fundamental change in IC outlook on ‘Sri Lanka’

[TamilNet, Thursday, 30 June 2016, 23:45 GMT]
Whatever the deviations in the Zeid report on Sri Lanka that has left the world to count petty trees and to lose the sight of the genocidal wood in the island, the report, listing overwhelming failures on the part of the State in Colombo even in implementing the most lenient resolution in recent UN history, indirectly urges paradigmatic changes in the current ‘Sri Lanka’ outlook of the International Community of Establishments, commented Tamil activists for alternative politics in the island. The report evidences the urgent need to address the issue more directly and proactively with the core paradigm-setters in Washington, London and New Delhi, the activists further said, urging Tamil polity and international human rights activism to take up an appropriate struggle strategy.

Zeid’s report implies ‘operation success, but patient died’

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 29 June 2016, 17:55 GMT]
UN Human Rights Chief Zeid Ra-ad al-Hussein was listing on Wednesday the symbolic measures taken by the genocidal Colombo as efforts towards reconciliation and transitional justice in the island. However, his own update was also listing how the SL State has not lived up to the expectations although he projected them as slow delivery. The report was a pathetic exercise as it failed to indicate any single UN action towards charting real accountability. While the powers are appeasing the genocidal Sinhala military, which is occupying the homeland of Eezham Tamils, the only UN action mentioned in the oral update was shielding the genocidal military as that action too was trading off international justice with whitewashing a Sri Lankan combat convoy battalion to be deployed at a UN peace mission in Mali.

Ko’ndachchi becomes hub of Maithiripala regime’s Sinhala colonization in Mannaar

[TamilNet, Tuesday, 28 June 2016, 23:34 GMT]
The occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka has transformed 6,000 acres of cashew plantation farm lands in the Musali division of Mannaar district in the country of Eezham Tamils as the hub of Sinhala military colonization targeting Musali. The so-called Sinhala home guards, which is uniformed and paid paramilitary force named Civil Security Force (CSF) and the SL Navy are controlling the entire farm, situated in Mannaar district bordering Anurathapura and Puththa’lam districts. The Cashew Corporation was earlier under the Ministry of Plantation Industries. But, after the change of government last year, the plantation has been brought under SL Ministry of Public Enterprises Development. In reality, the SL Defence Ministry is maintaining the area as a military corporatist establishment and as an entertainment base for Sinhala Navy.

Denouncing the smokescreen measures by the SL State, the protesters were calling for international criminal investigations as well as demanding the UN system to investigate the State responsibility for the root crime of genocide. Meanwhile, Intelligence operatives of the occupying SL military were tracing the origin of the organisers behind the protest and the participants were subjected to strict surveillance harassment.

Vavuniyaa protest echoes Tamil sentiments running against ICE-manipulated ‘Transitional Justice’

[TamilNet, Sunday, 26 June 2016, 14:15 GMT]
0The soft agents of external powers, posing themselves as ‘non-governmental’ organisations in Colombo receiving funds through the development agencies of US-aligned external powers in the so-called International Community of Establishments, have made mockery of the term ‘Transitional Justice’ by turning it into a buzzword for fund-oriented Colombo-based NGO operatives. “To NGOs Transitional Justice is like cash tree. For us, it is a drama of international deception,” said a banner of Vavuniyaa Citizens’ Committee, which organised a protest jointly with the Forum for Searching Handed, Kidnapped and Forcibly Disappeared persons Relatives (FSHFDR) opposing the creation of Colombo-based ‘Office for Missing Persons’ (OMP).
