India gets prime minister of his own political stature

After 10 years, India is getting a political prime minister of his own stature, routing out the Sonia-Rahul-Priyanka Congress Party, the government of which was run by a puppet prime minister and extra-parliamentary elements such as National Security Advisors, intelligence officials and bureaucrats. Apart from the debate on BJP’s Hindutva polity and the impact that might come with the brute majority given to it, the past experience of Eezham Tamils is that Non-Congress governments were much better in post-Indira Gandhi times. Mr. Narendra Modi’s predecessor Mr. A. B. Vajpayee earned the respect of Tamils, despite the virtual non-existence of his party in Tamil Nadu. Mr. Modi must have surely got the cue about the expectations behind the unprecedentedly overwhelming victory of Ms. Jayalalithaa in Tamil Nadu.

Tamils should project universality in Mu'l'livaaykkaal remembrance

The Jaffna University Science Teachers’ Association (JUSTA) on Saturday condemned the Colombo government for oppressing Mu'l'livaaykkaal remembrance. One of the obverse impacts recognised by the JUSTA is that “it might lead to latent nostalgia for the LTTE, despite the anger against its holding the civilians hostage in the last stages of the war.” The JUSTA statement reeks of a deceptive twist deployed by the agencies of the West in covertly passing the blame. New Delhi was overt in oppressing any remembrance when its FM chose to visit Jaffna on the 2009 Heroes Day. Tamils should not slip in recognising and projecting the global struggle dimensions of remembering Mu'l'livaaykkaal, commented a Jaffna University academic.

Colombo accelerates genocidal land grab after Geneva resolution

In the meantime, informed sources in Colombo told TamilNet on Monday that the SLFP parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksas, who is the son of the SL president Mahinda Rajapaksa, has also taken over a large area for corporate exploitation between KKS and Keerimalai. All ‘official’ exchanges have taken place secretely in Colombo for the transfer of lands. The gencoidal land grab is accelerated at the strategic coastal locations in North and East as there was no international condemnation on the structural genocide taking place in the North and East of the island.

Genocidal Colombo’s Sinhala military and the abettors in New Delhi, Washington and Beijing now take away the Eezham Tamil right to urbanisation by building Sinhala military capitals in the so-called Palaali ‘High Security Zone’ and in Trincomalee. Tamils resisting demographic genocide at North-East border, stricken by poverty

The Sri Lankan State is accelerating Sinhala colonization with the aim of permanently wedging the demographic contiguity of the northern and eastern provinces at Kokkuth-thoduvaay, a strategic village situated in Mullaiththeevu district. “Nobody has listened to our repeated pleas for freeing our lands. We went from divisional offices to SL president placing our appeals. We have also done our maximum in mobilising against the demographic genocide,” says civic member K. Sivalokeswaran from Kokkuth-thoduvaay North. Now, the Eezham Tamils, who have resettled in the village are stricken by poverty, similar to what the world has witnessed in Somalia, he says. All the agricultural lands owned by Tamils have been appropriated. The residential areas where Tamils managed to resettle are also being appropriated by Colombo, he says.

SL military wants Jaffna University shut down on Mu’l’livaaykkaal Day

The Registrar of the University of Jaffna Mr V. Kandeepan, has issued a notice instructing the students at the University hostels to vacate the premises between 16 May and 20 May without citing any reason. All the education activities have also been cancelled for four days, bringing the entire University to a standstill during the Mu’l’livaaykkaal Remembrance this year. The instruction has come from the occupying Sri Lankan military, informed sources told TamilNet. Since 2009, the University student community has been fighting for the collective right of remembering those who sacrificed their lives in the Tamil struggle. In the meantime, the Eastern University in Batticaloa is already at a standstill as Tamil students have been protesting against the Vice Chancellor for collaborating with the genocidal regime of Colombo.

Uyangoda revisited on Tamil nationhood, self-determination

Uprooted Champoor Tamils in Trincomalee: ‘Tell the world our story’

The occupying military of genocidal Sri Lanka and its Colombo-centric investment board are jointly opposing the resettlement of Champoor people and even the name of the village has been officially deleted. The area constitutes more than 9,000 acres. But, the SL government has appropriated, through Gazette notifications, only 1,458 acres including the 500 acres that has been demarcated for the construction of a coal power plant. However, the occupying SL Navy is not allowing the people to resettle. The main problem is the policy of genocidal militarisation, the people say. The real problem of Champoor people in Moothoor East in Trincomalee district has not reached the outside world, the uprooted people and their representatives told TamilNet after they marked 9th year of their uprooted life with a prayer for resettlement at Paththirakaa’li-amman temple in Champoor on 26 April 2014.

146,000 acres of lands appropriated through militarisation of Batticaloa in 5 years: Tamil MP

Colombo has established 54 new military camps in Batticaloa district. 650 acres of lands have been appropriated for the occupying SL military, said Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarian P. Ariyanethiran addressing May day rally in Batticaloa. Within the last 5 years alone, 145,885 acres of lands belonging to Tamil workers have been seized, Mr Ariyanethiran further said. The major land appropriation has taken place through the SL ministry of tourism seizing 122,063 acres through gazette notification within the last 5 years, the parliamentarian from Batticaloa said.

Sinhala military operates US-trained ‘counterinsurgency’ in Jaffna

The SL commander has launched a deceptive programme to woo Tamil youth into subservient jobs to SL military by promising good payment through a secret agent known as ‘Tamil CNN Kannan’ who has come from the UK. As the direct campaign to enlist Tamils into the genocidal military has failed, the SL military has chosen to trap Tamil youth through business and media agents.

SL military photographs students, teachers at schools in Madu, Mannaar

Schoolteachers in Madu division told TamilNet that the SL military was behaving as if the Tamil students and teachers were in a prison the genocidal Sri Lankan State. The latest conduct of the SL military shows how the situation of threat on Tamil students and teachers has worsened from the earlier situation, said Mr Joseph Stalin, the general secretary of Ilangkai Thamizh Teachers Union. The entire education system in the Northern province is being militarised by the Sri Lankan government, he said.

NPC chief minister joins Sinhala State in mutilating Tamil names

In the Sinhala rendering it has become Chundukuli. A large number of Tamil place names have already been Sinhalicised or mutilated by the signboards placed by the occupying genocidal military in the country of Eezham Tamils and now Wigneswaran is also contributing to the trend, commented Tamil academic circles in Jaffna. There was a time when Jaffna enjoyed reputation even in Tamil Nadu for flawless use of Tamil.

Tamil academic responds to denial of Eezham Tamil nationhood

There is however a Sinhala nation in Sri Lanka. That is the only ethnic community on the island, which can claim the status of a nation as such.”

One of the abductions reported in Jaffna this week was carried out by armed men who came in a white-van to Karaveddi in Vadamaraadchi South West on Wednesday night.
